I believe at the time it was $169 or $189 new. I got it for free on promotion when AT&T was launching it’s streaming service (before it switched to DirectTV branding). The interface is much faster than my 2021 Samsung Frame TV’s built in interface. This device is maybe 4 years old and it’s still fast with little to no lag. It works for you? All of your content providers show up in the Apple TV TV app as suggestions, etc? I will play around with the settings tomorrow and see if I can fix it. Hmm I've heard this before, but it's not my experience at all. It pulls from everyone but Netflix because Netflix is too stubborn to support it. It also doesn't display suggestions by category like action, comedy, etc.Īgain, perhaps I just haven't set mine up correctly. It doesn't pull from Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime/Disney Plus, etc. On my TV app on Apple TV, it typically only displays selections from Apple TV +. At least I haven't been able to set mine up that way. The TV app does this on every Apple platform. For this reason alone, I often find myself using the Chromecast pretty often, even though I am deep in the Apple ecosystem in every other way. Maybe I just haven't set up the Apple TV properly, but I don't think the Apple TV offers this function. However, I must say, I love the user interface of the Chromecast, particularly its ability to pull content from the various providers I subscribe to and offer me suggestions and different categories of films, etc. I agree with most posters here that Apple TV is probably the physically best one (fastest, etc). I have both Apple TV and Google Chromecast with Google TV. There is a good chart here that shows you which streaming devices allow you to get to specific channels with voice control. This is big to me since I am fully invested in the Amazon/Alexa ecosystem I have both Roku and Firestick/Cube.I prefer the Firestick for navigating to other channels or specific videos/show with voice command. On Firestick I can be at home page and say You Tube Jack Bogle and it will take me to directly to You Tube channels about Jack Bogle - I cant do that with Roku.Even better with Fire Cube I don't even have to press the voice command on the remote I can just speak directly to the Cube because it has a microphone built in.Cube has more processing spowers so it is faster too.Īnother reason I like Firestick and Cube vs Roku is because the Amazon Prime interface on Roku is not the same and not as easy to navigate as it is on Firestick. The remote control must have the ability to do voice-to-text typing. If price is not a factor, which system should I get? I must have the following features:
